Albrecht Dürer's “Melencolia I” is one of the most well-known “old masters” prints in the world. Throughout it’s history the print has stubbornly resisted a unified consensus on it’s meaning. Many consider this a work to be depicting the artist’s state of mind during a period of mental blockage.

This 1:1 scale plate of the work enables anyone with a printing press the ability to print an exact engraving of the original. We hope through this manual process, time, inking, and looking, that the depth and meaning of the work and one’s relationship to it can become both physical and personal in the hands of the printmaker.
